I enjoy tutoring because I love the challenge of modifying my approach to match each student's needs and learning style in a way that is maximally effective for them. I studied history and political science as an undergraduate, and I have a masters degree in political science as well. At Binghamton University, I served as a teaching assistant in philosophy courses, assisting students individually with content and writing. My specialties as a tutor are philosophy, writing, literature, English, history, and preparation for the SAT. I love to combine the humanities and communication skills with critical thinking, and I enjoy helping students grasp that so that they can find success in these subjects. In addition to my teaching and tutoring experience at Binghamton, I've also taught college level coursework to high school students through an MIT educational program. In this program, instructors like myself are put in front of the class of highly achieving high school students to help them learn advanced subjects. I developed a lot of teaching skills and the ability to adapt to learning styles through this experience. When I'm not teaching, I love all kinds of science fiction and fantasy. I also like to get outside in nature for a bike ride or hike, and I enjoy going to the beach as well. In addition, I like to practice martial arts.
